Einco    INNOVATIVE ENERGY TECHNOLOGY

DISPOSAL AND ENERGY UTILIZATION OF WASTES

Einco's waste handling plant allows disposal and energy recovery from wastes whose utilization would otherwise be technically and/or economically difficult. Investment and operating costs are low, so these plants can be applied in a local community scale thus offering two advantages:

  1. Transport and handling costs of wastes is reduced considerably
  2. Energy recovered from a local waste treatment plant can be utilized locally
The process is applicable to various waste types:
  • Municipial and industrial sludges
  • Recycled/rederived fuel (REF/RDF)
  • Various solid wastes and by-products
  • Co-combustion with non-wasteous fuels is possible

THE PROCESS

Stages Description
1-3 Drying of high water content fuels
  • Used if combustion quality or energy balances require
  • Necessary with sludges
  • A specifically designed CFB-dryer is used for drying
  • The dryer uses energy from the CTC-boiler
4-6 Primary combustion in a CTC-boiler
  • Incineration of waste fuels + combustion of non-waste-fuels
  • Primary combustion takes place under highly-controlled conditions
  • Surplus heat from the CTC-boiler is used in the CFB-dryer or recovered
7-9 Secondary combustion and heat recovery
  • Takes place in a high temperature with a long residence time
  • Oxidizes emission components
  • Heat is recovered from flue gases and utilized in the process or elsewhere
10 Flue gas clean-up
  • Gaseous emissions are well below allowed limits
  • No odours
  • No waste water
  • Dry ash is the only by-product from the process

ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECTS

The plant conforms with EU's Waste Incineration Directive 2000/76/EC in all aspects:
  1. Process conforms to directive conditions
  2. Plant emissions are well below directive limits
  3. Emissions are continuosly monitored and reported
  4. The plant is highly automated and requires little manual overseeing
  5. Process automation alarms the operator and takes appropriate action if needed

Air emissions from a TST plant. 100% = air emission limit value in 2000/76/EC.
